VIOLENCE. ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT VIOLENCE.

What’s “violence”? The violence is the kind of human interaction that occurs in behaviors or situations which deliberately, learned or imitated, causes a sever physical, sexual, verbal or psychological harm, subjecting to a person, or to a community; or affect so much that limit their present or future potentials.

For there to be “violence”, there must be DAMAGE, HURT, INJURY, HARM, both physical and psychological: on the body, and on the mind, from one person to other person.

What’s the origin of the violence in human society? The family. Because the family is the suprem teacher agent. The family prepares us to face the world and relate to others. Within the family, the most important educational figure is: the mother (Read the article LOVE. ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT LOVE. ) In the family atmosphere should be good. So… Of course, the relationship with parents should be good too.

Besides the family, school is important. At school we interact with other people and we learn a lot of knowledge which take us out of ignorance, and therefore, of primitivism.

Therefore, the school should be a normal, calm and positive experience to can learn to build peaceful and healthy personal relationships while developing the intelect by general knowledge. For this reason, is remarkable the damage, such as distrust and fear, on which relationships are built, because that’s in the origin of group relation problems, ie antisocial behavior.

When you come into the world, as a social human being who you are, psychologically absorb models or templates of interpersonal relationship. So if the models are peaceful and positive, you will be a peaceful and positive person in the society. If the models are agressive, violent and negative, you will be a violent and negative person. It’s simple!

What’s the difference between a positive social model and a negative social model? The positive social model is based on Love. The negative social model is based on Fear. Love is courage and respect. Fear is hate and destruction. With fear nothing is worth. With fear nothing is valuable. With fear there is no future. With fear there is an apocalypse. Fear is a big factory of primitivism, negative energy of: danger, hostility, selfishness, resentment and… Unreal!

Violent people are full of fear. They are full of all that, god! And all that is the worst ignorance.

But… It’s very hard to learn something they didn’t teach you, on Earth and on a physical body, dude!

Violence is a social phenomenon, and it’s learned ‘from’ and ‘in’ society (family, school) and applied to the society.

We can’t blame the genes, because genes are activated and developed acording to the physical and social environment in which a person develops (this is what is called “epigenetics”).

Yes… There are cases in which people are born evil by nature, but they are, fortunately, rare and extreme cases.

Advances in psychiatric epidemology, in psychological assesment and criminology have shown the inadequacy of the concept of RISK to predpredict the occurence of future violence, and proposed new methods of prediction of violence based on the assesment of risk factors that anticipate violent behavior.

These methods are to calculate the probability of occurrence of violent behavior in the future, which is essential to build a framework for effective violence prevention. What specific benefits does this have?

For example, in prisons:

Facilitate decision as to urgency and need for treatment

– Grant of home leave

Regime change or access to parole

New techniques for predicting violent behavior are based on a thorough knowledge of the nature and processes associated with violence. It has replaced the term “dangerousness” to “risk of violence.”

Is it difficult to predict violent behavior? Yes. Beause there are multiple causes and serious violent behavior is usually uncommon. This does not mean that this is not feasible.

What is the danger? The danger is the propensity of a person to commit violent acts. The dangerousness is a legal category that defines the risk of committing serious offenses by a criminal, that is, criminal dangerousness, or part of a subject, even without a criminal record, that is, social dangerousness. There are two ways to determine the dangerousness of a person:

1 The clinical-forensic technique

Objective: To evaluate the criminal capacity, associated with various personality traits (aggressiveness, egocentrism ) and social maladjustment.

2 The typological classification made by means of criminal profiling

Objective: To classify a given subject in a profile based on a series of psychological, social and biographical characteristics. It has low predictive accuracy.

The issue is that consider the dangerousness as the cause of violent behavior implies a limited capacity prediction and gives two types of errors: false negatives and false positives.

Therefore dangerousness identification has replaced for risk assessment, because, unlike the dangerousness, the risk of violence is SPECIFIC and VARIABLE, allowing to take graduate and re-evaluated decisions  for the future prognosis of violence. So, this is, the dangerousness was static, and risk assessment is flexible.

Violence in the past is a common risk factor in all forms of violence, however, paraphilias are a risk factor for sexual violence but not for intimate partner violence.

To assess the risk is no need to find out the causes of the violence, but the risk factors associated with it, ie, it focuses on the situational context.

In assessing the risk of violence there are two types of procedures: clinical procedures and actuarial methods. Although there are also mixed. Risk assessment is based on empirical knowledge, not only in clinical intuitions. The problem is the variety and simultaneity of risk factors.

Through these procedures, what to do to make an assessment of risk of violence? We must to do personal interviews, psychological and medical evaluations, and review of social and health records and obtaining collateral information.

In Spain, there are different instruments of violence risk assessment:

VRAG: predicting serious violent behavior in adults with severe mental illness or criminal history

HCR-20: assesses the risk of violent behavior in mental patients and adult offenders

PCL-R:  evaluates the presence of PSYCHOPATHY on adults with a violent or criminal record

SARA: assesses the risk of violent behavior of physical or sexual nature against a partner or former partner

EPV: predicts the risk of serious violence of killing against partner or former partner

SVR-20: assesses the risk of sexual violence in adult mental patients and criminals accused of these type of crimes

SAVRY: assesses the risk of physical, sexual violence and serious threats to mental patients and young offenders (14-18 years)

In any risk assessment procedure must take a series of pre-election decisions of a particular instrument:

1 Define the type and characteristics of violence

2 Specify the time period of prediction

3 Report the particular population (example violence)

Clinical judgment based on the structured risk assessment guide, is the ideal technique for predicting and managing the risk of violence. With that, assessor errors are avoided. By this method, improve forecasts of violence on: prison populations, mentally ill offenders and rapists couple.

How you see, in society, the issue of violence concern people, repelled and want to solve, therefore, have developed all the scientific tools explained here. This is very good.

But the human mind is a computer, and computers are programmable … In fact, it is programmable generationally, as their large database is DNA. This database is storing all the information of the entire lives, feelings and experiences of all family members, being present in all descendants lives (later). In every human life, a brain responds to a program. The configuration of the program depends on the experiences that the person lives. The experiences activate and / or deactivate genes. These genes can be both good and bad. The human being is always subjected to a mental program, which of course is connected to his body. Mental program begins to take shape from conception of the person. From birth continues configurating and is consolidating, until it reaches adolescence, the crisis stage where the program may undergo major changes, and then continues into adulthood, where experiences can shape more programming , although it is more difficult if the person is mentally strong. Mental program determines the behavior of people, so if their experiences in society are negative, the person will be negative. If your parents mistreat you, you will mistreat, because your parents take these genes and therefore , mistreating you they activate them , programming you just like that.

We learn, and we remember. What you learn, is what you will do in your life. And this lessons, good or bad, activate a lot of your genes, good or bad too. It’s like remembering.

What’s your program?

Do you have a violent program?
